The police on Tuesday arrested the proprietor of a business Amit Singh who purportedly published a misleading advertisement using the name and picture of the Dehradun senior superintendent of police Ajai Singh. According to the police, the accused allegedly took a photo of SSP from social media, edited it and got it published in national newspapers as an advertisement in a fraudulent manner for his personal and business interests. A case was registered against him at the Nehru Colony police station on Sunday. The SSP said that two cases were also registered against the accused Amit in Raipur and Rajpur police stations on charges of fraud. Besides this, two non-bailable warrants were also issued by the court in Dehradun. He was finally arrested on Tuesday under section 138 of the Negotiable Instruments Act. The police are looking into the complaints against him and will act accordingly, he added.
