Man arrested from UP for allegedly raping minor in Mussoorie

The police arrested a man Ankush Kamboj (38) from Uttar Pradesh on Saturday for allegedly raping a minor in Mussoorie in Dehradun district. The Dehradun senior superintendent of police Ajai Singh said that the incident came to light on Friday when the complainant, the minor’s father, lodged a written complaint at the Mussoorie police station, alleging that Kamboj had raped his daughter and threatened to kill her if she disclosed the sexual assault to anyone. Based on the complaint, the Mussoorie police registered a case under sections 65(1) and 351(2) of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) as well as sections 3(a) and 4(2) of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. He said that the police started the investigation soon considering the gravity of the offense. Singh informed that a special police team was formed under the supervision of the Mussoorie police station in-charge and with coordinated efforts and intelligence gathering, the team tracked the accused to the Biharigarh area in Uttar Pradesh on Saturday. The SSP said that the police are probing the case and will ensure that the culprit is brought to justice.
