Man caught with heroin worth Rs 45 lakh in Kichha area by STF

Uttarakhand Special Task Force (STF) arrested a drug smuggler with heroin worth Rs 45 lakh from the Kichha area of Udham Singh Nagar district on Sunday. The Anti-Narcotics Task Force of STF’s Kumaon Unit in Rudrapur, along with the Nanakmatta police team, carried out a joint operation and seized 151.17 grammes of the contraband from the accused.
The senior superintendent of police of STF Navneet Singh Bhullar informed that the STF Kumaon unit, led by inspector Pawan Swaroop under the supervision of additional superintendent of police Swapn Kishore Singh and circle officer Parvez Ali, intercepted the accused near Lalpur in Nankamatta. During interrogation, the arrested individual, identified as Baldev Singh, a resident of Kelakheda area in Udham Singh Nagar, confessed that he had received the heroin from Nankamatta-based supplier Prince Singh.
Singh said that Prince’s mother, Surendra Kaur alias Jamuna, is already facing a case related to heroin smuggling at Nankamatta police station. Baldev revealed that he was involved in drug trafficking due to multiple criminal cases registered against him in Milak in Uttar Pradesh and Kelakheda, and Gadarpur in Udham Singh Nagar, as per SSP.
He stated that several other names have emerged during questioning and further action will follow based on the information gathered. According to Singh, the team recovered 151.17 grammes of heroin and a motorcycle without a number plate from the accused.
The STF is verifying the suspect’s criminal background. The SSP has urged the public to stay away from drugs and report any information on drug trafficking to the nearest police station or directly to STF Uttarakhand at 0135-2656202 or 9412029536.
