Man dies after boulder falls on JCB in Pithoragarh

A man lost his life after a boulder fell on a JCB during road construction at Pashma in Pithoragarh district on Wednesday. The deceased was identified as Kamlesh (25), a resident of Nandprayag, Chamoli. The officials informed that the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) received information from Askot police station about a JCB being trapped under debris on Basatdi Road in Pashma.
Following the alert, an SDRF team led by assistant sub-inspector Sundar Singh Bora, along with necessary rescue equipment, was dispatched to the location. The officials said that upon reaching the site, the team found that large boulders had fallen from the hillside onto the JCB during road construction. The impact trapped the machine, resulting in the immediate death of the person inside.
The SDRF had to cut through the JCB TO retrieve the body. The remains were handed over to the district police for further procedures, they added.
