A 42-year-old man died after he allegedly got hit by a moving train on a railway track in the Harrawala area of Doiwala early Wednesday morning. The police suspect it to be a suicide attempt but will be able to verify this only after talking to family members and getting relevant reports, said the sub-inspector of Harrawala police station Kishan Devrani to The Pioneer.
He said that the station master of the respective railway station called the police around 4:13 AM on Wednesday and said that an injured man was found near Pole number 65 of the railway track. He said that the man appears to be reportedly hit by a train due to which he sustained a severe head injury, said the SI. He said that the police immediately reached the spot and sent the injured man to Doon Hospital where the doctors declared him dead.
He said that the police contacted the deceased’s wife Uma Devi through his mobile from the hospital who identified him as Ramnivas Dayal who was a native of the Hardoi district of Uttar Pradesh but was currently living in the Doiwala area. Devrani said that it appears that the deceased got hit by a train as he attempted to commit suicide but it will be too soon to comment without getting post-mortem and other relevant reports. The police are yet to talk to the deceased’s family which will help in the investigation too, added the SI.
