A man fell off a bridge near Dehradun Zoo in Malsi area here while talking on the phone and died late on Wednesday. The man, identified as Ashish Gusain (34), a resident of Kotdwar in Pauri district, was with his friend Piyush Adhikari, when the incident happened. The officials said that the police received the information around 11 PM and a rescue team from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) along with a police team was sent to the spot. The man had fallen into a 50-metre gorge down the bridge. The SDRF rescued the injured man and took him to the hospital where he died. It was revealed during investigation that both men were reportedly intoxicated and sitting on the Malsi bridge. Gusain allegedly slipped and fell from the bridge. Preliminary findings suggest that his death resulted from slipping and falling into the gorge when he was under the influence of alcohol and engaged in a telephonic conversation. The police will be able to ascertain the exact cause of the death after the post mortem.
