The authorities found the body of a man in the toilet of the Bandra Express in Haridwar on Thursday. The deceased appeared to be aged between 23 to 25 years old and his body was sent for post mortem examination after completing all procedures, the officials said. They informed that when the train reached Haridwar, the officials concerned started checking the coaches as part of the daily procedure when somebody complained about a toilet being locked from inside for a long time.
When authorities knocked on the door repeatedly but got no response, they forced open the door and found the body. According to an official of the Government Railway Police Force (GRPF) of Haridwar, “The Railway Protection Force (RPF) reached the spot to unlock the door. When they opened it, they found the blood soaked body. There were also broken pieces of glass lying on the toilet’s floor.
The RPF officials called the police at the spot to carry out further proceedings.” On the question of the cause of death, the officials said, “The door was locked from inside. The mirror was broken which the deceased probably broke to cut himself. These things currently point towards the possibility that he committed suicide. The police are investigating the matter.” The officials said that a forensic team was called to the spot to collect evidence and the body was sent for postmortem.
The police found no ID from the body that could be used to identify him and inform his family. The police also allegedly found some injury marks on the body but according to the officials, those might be because of broken glass. Nothing can be ascertained before getting the postmortem report. The police have started the process to identify the body, they added.
