One man died and another sustained injury in a road accident in Rudraprayag on Wednesday. The officials said that two men identified as Kailash Jagwad (42) and Kishan Kathait (54) were travelling in a car from Tilwara towards Mayali in Rudraprayag. They suddenly lost control of the car on Tilwara- Mayali road and crashed into a 500 metre deep gorge.
When the police received the information about the accident, they called the rescue team of the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) to the spot. A team led by SDRF inspector Karan Singh rushed to the accident site with the necessary equipment. The team members descended into the gorge with a rope to reach the crashed vehicle. The team recovered both men but Kathaith was found dead at the spot but the other sustained serious injury.
The SDRF brought both men to the main road via stretched on foot. Jagwad was sent to the hospital for proper treatment via ambulance and the deceased body was handed over to the police. The body will be handed over to the family after completion of the required procedure, the officials added.
