The Dehradun police arrested the alleged murderer of Shiv Kumar who was found dead in a drain near Lal Pull on September 30. The man was allegedly killed for about Rs 4,000. Two other men who were also allegedly involved in the murder are currently in jail for theft and offences under the NDPS Act, said the senior superintendent of police Ajai Singh. The police on Tuesday registered a murder case against unknown accused after the deceased’s brother expressed suspicion of murder and informed the police about some possible suspects. The SSP then formed teams to investigate the case and the main accused Ashish alias Pappu (45) was nabbed on Thursday. Singh said that the body was about one week old when police recovered it about 12 days ago. The police interrogated several people after getting call detail records of the victim. They got the information that the victim visited the house of a man named Rishabh where a man named Pappu took his phone. Singh said that the police searched for Pappu and arrested him from the Bhandaribagh area on Thursday. Pappu revealed during the interrogation that the victim had come to the house on September 25 where he and their accomplice Shubham were already present. They drank alcohol together and started a fight regarding about Rs 4,000 when Pappu hit Kumar on the head with a stick. They noticed that Kumar was dead so they locked the room and left, th SSP said. He said that they returned after three days and since the body had started smelling, they took it to the Lal Pull area on a scooty recently stolen by Rishabh and dumped it in a drain there. Rishabh and Shubham were arrested on September 30 and October 1 for theft and offence under the NDPS act by the police, added Singh.
