Slits throats of mother, wife & three children in a fit of rage in Ranipokhari area
In a shocking act of mass murder on Monday, a man killed five of his family members including three young daughters, his wife and mother in cold blood in Dehradun. The police said that the accused, named Mahesh Kumar Tiwari, is a native of Banda in Uttar Pradesh but was living in Ranipokhari area of Dehradun for about seven years. The police said that some locals allegedly heard the screams of the victims around 7 AM on Monday morning after which they informed the police. The police immediately rushed to the spot and nabbed the accused. The accused has slitted throats of her mother Bitan Devi (75), wife Neetu Devi (36) and daughters Aparna (13), Annapurna (9), and Swarna (11) with a knife, as per the police. According to the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) of Dehradun, Daleep Singh Kunwar, the accused has revealed during the investigation that he used to be quite involved in praying and worshipping gods but his wife used to interrupt him often. The SSP said, “On Monday morning, Tiwari said that he was doing his usual morning prayers when his wife interrupted him saying he should help her with the breakfast as children were getting late for school. This made him angry and he slit the throat of his wife and then his three daughters in rage. He also murdered his old mother who could barely move.“ The SSP informed that the accused also has a fourth daughter but she is safe as she was at her aunt’s (Tiwari’s sister) house during the murder. The police have recovered the murder weapon from the scene and arrested the accused.
