Dehradun police arrested a man identified as Mohammad Hasin (26) who was reportedly planning to kill his wife and her alleged lover on Monday. The senior superintendent of police Daleep Singh Kunwar said in a Press conference on Monday that the police received information from an informer that a husband and wife who live in the Nevada area had a fight regarding her alleged affair with another man on Sunday evening. According to the informer, the man threatened to kill both of them and then went somewhere in anger the next morning, possibly to act on his plan to kill them.
Considering this information, SSP said that some police personnel were deployed to monitor the accused’s wife and her alleged lover in plain clothes to ensure their safety while keeping an eye on the location of the accused with the help of surveillance. He said that the informer informed the police around 2:30 AM on Monday that the accused was seen approaching his house while walking very fast. The police deployed at the location nabbed the man and started questioning him.
“The police also recovered a pistol of .315 bore and two live cartridges from his possession. He told us that his wife was having an affair with another man due to which they fought frequently. He finally planned to kill both of them. He said that he left for Kashipur on Sunday to buy a country pistol and cartridges and returned to Dehradun in the wee hours of Monday. He was planning to kill them both later that day but the police caught him,” said SSP. He said that the police have arrested the accused under Section 3/25 of the Arms Act and will be produced before the court soon.
Appreciating the police team, Kunwar said that it could possibly lead to a double murder but the efficient policing prevented it.
