The Manaskhand tableau which won the first position for Uttarakhand in the Republic Day parade in the national Capital earlier this year has been placed permanently at the Culture department’s Himalayan Cultural Centre at Garhi cantonment in the provisional State capital. Earlier, this tableau was taken across the State and displayed at various important locations for the public to view for a duration of about one and a half month. The chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami had flagged off the tableau on its State tour earlier on April 5 from the CM residence in Dehradun. He had also directed that the tableau should be preserved and kept on display at the Himalayan Cultural Centre. The front and middle portion of the tableau displays wildlife found in the Corbett national park including deer, Barasingha, Ghural and peacock along with various bird species found in the State. The back portion of the tableau displays the famous Jageshwar group of temples and Deodar trees. The popular Aipan folk art of the Kumaon region has also been displayed on the tableau.

It is pertinent to mention here that in the Republic Day parade in New Delhi during 2021, the State’s Kedarkhand tableau which had won the third position has also been kept on display at the Himalayan Cultural Centre. The general public of the State can view these tableaux at the centre at any time, said officials.
