The regional transport office (RTO) of Dehradun has made it mandatory for the public to book a time slot online to carry out the works related to permits, driving licenses, challans and others. Releasing an order on Friday evening, the regional transport officer (administration) Dinesh Chandra Pathoi said that in view of the current circumstances of Covid-19 disease in the district besides considering the welfare of the public and the staff most of whom have been found positive for covid, the RTO has decided to limit the amount of work being done on daily basis.  He informed that people will have to book slots to carry out the works associated with the issuance of permits by the transport authority at http://appointment rtodoon.in and only 50 slots will be booked in a day. According to the order, the applicant will have to book a slot on the Sarathi portal https://sarathi.parivahan.gov.in for the test of permanent Driver’s License (DL) and will have to appear for the test on the allotted date. The order stated that only 100 applicants will be allowed per day for the DL test. The old applicants of the learner’s license (LL) who could not give the test on the allotted date can rebook their slots at http://appointment rtodoon.in. Only 30 applicants will be entertained and no new applicants will be allowed to book the slots due to heavy backlog, as per the order.  People will also have to book slots for the settlement of the penalties imposed by the enforcement officers of the RTO and only 50 slots will be booked in a day. Vehicle owners will also have to book slots online to carry out the work related to the registration of vehicles and vehicle fitness and only 50 slots each will be booked in a day. Besides this, the order stated, the RTO will also accept the applications submitted by the authorised representatives of various local organizations and unions considering the Covid situation. Applications related to very important or unavoidable cases can be accepted too after the approval from RTO or ARTO, as per the order. Pathoi said that compliance with Covid protocols is mandatory for all the people entering the RTO premises and the person violating them will not be entertained in the office.
