Mandi Samiti opens 10 collection centres in three districts of Uttarakhand
To make the local hill products accessible to people living in cities, the Dehradun Mandi Samiti has opened 10 collection centres in the three districts of Uttarakhand, where local produce will be purchased..
Informing this, Dehradun Mandi Samiti’s chairman Rajesh Sharma said that they have set up 10 collection centres in various parts of Chamoli, Pauri Garhwal and Almora district so that local farmers can sell their produces like Jhanghora and Mandwa easily rather than covering great distances to sell their products. He added that there are four collection centres in Pauri Garhwal while three centres each in Almora and Chamoli. According to him, the farmers can sell their crops and produces anywhere as per the new rules and since the demand of such products is very high in Dehradun, this initiative will benefit the local farmers.
Meanwhile, Sharma also informed that the Samiti is still waiting for the approval of the proposal sent to senior officials to start flower business in Niranjanpur Mandi. The flowers will be available in the Mandi for retail sellers as soon as the proposal gets approved, said Sharma. It is noteworthy to mention that Mandi Samiti is planning to begin flower business in the Niranjanpur Mandi. Most of the flowers grown here are sent to Delhi due to lack of a platform in Uttarakhand for farmers and buyers to do flower business. As an initiative, Mandi Samiti is trying to provide a platform to the locals in the state where farmers and retail vendors of flowers can do their business.
