The 79th Independence Day was celebrated with gaiety and patriotism at Smt Manjira Devi Vishwavidyala located at Hitanu, Dhanari. It commenced with the flag hoisting by the chairman, Pawan Nautiyal.
A faculty member of Ayurveda College, Acharya Kamleshwar recounted the heroic tales involving the freedom movement. Among those present were the registrar and the controller of examinations of the university, professors, department heads, deans, principals and students.
Pawan Nautiyal, in his address, said that Independence Day is not just about hoisting the tricolour but a sacred occasion to remember the sacrifice of the brave sons and daughters of the country. He also announced that the university fraternity would provide all possible support to the families affected by Dharali disaster while pledging to adopt children orphaned in the flash flood calamity.
