In latest Uttarakhand news, Manya Bhatia, a resident of Kotdwar in Pauri district, has qualified for the World Scholar Cup Championship to be held in US in November. Notably, he scored 96.4 per cent marks in the high school board exam from a private school in Dehradun. Earlier, Manya had participated in the final round of the World Scholar Cup Championship held in Doha in June this year.
This championship is played in four categories and a girl from Rudrapur of Udham Singh Nagar district has also qualified for the final round of the World Scholar Cup Championship to be held in US. Students from top 25 schools of India took part in the qualifying round and the first round was held in Mussoorie in which 1800 students played.
Manya was accorded a warm welcome on his return home from Doha. He said that he longed to become a doctor. “This is because Kotdwar lacks proper medical facilities which force the people, taken ill, to far-off cities and towns for treatment,” he said.
Meanwhile, the BJP MLA from Lansdowne Dilip Rawat congratulated Manya on his achievement in the realm of sports. Some other prominent persons also congratulated him and wished him success in future.
