City markets and salons were bustling with a significant number of women preparing to celebrate Karwa Chauth joyously. The occasion will be observed on Sunday. A large number of women thronged the markets on Saturday for their last-minute preparations for the festival.
A cosmetics shop owner at Paltan Bazaar, Naheer Ahmed stated that since morning, they have been catering to a large number of women visiting the shop to finalise their arrangements for Karwa Chauth. The female customers enthusiastically purchased bangles, lipstick and other accessories for the occasion.
Customer named Pooja Chauhan said that the occasion is important for married women. To make the occasion more enjoyable and memorable, women often start their shopping a week before Karwa Chauth. However, she noted that she visited the market for last-minute shopping and she also got Mehendi applied on her hands at a stall in the market.
Many other women expressed their joy in celebrating Karwa Chauth. A large crowd was seen at the Mehendi stalls, where women decorated their hands with Mehendi, even at higher prices compared to normal days. Mehendi stall owner Manoj Kumar stated that they have already received a large number of advance bookings from ladies for the occasion. Due to the increase in demand, the prices for Mehendi art have risen during this special occasion, as well as during Diwali and Raksha Bandhan.
