Martyr Suman remembered on death anniversary

Shri Dev Suman, a freedom fighter considered a hero of people’s movement and who fought against the Tehri monarchy to later die at the age of 28 years, was remembered by various organisations on his Balidaan Diwas on Sunday.
The people of the Tehri district remembered Suman, a freedom fighter and a martyr who played a major role in liberating Tehri from the monarchy. He was paid floral tributes at the memorial in his native village Jaul. Tehri MLA Dhan Singh Negi dedicated the newly constructed memorial and statue of Suman at Chamba. Vice chancellor of Shri Dev Suman Uttarakhand University, PP Dhyani expressed his views on the life of Suman in an online programme. Dhyani said that work is on to include the biography of martyr Suman in the curriculum.
For this, a committee has been constituted by the university and it is taking necessary action. Suman’s personality will be included in the university’s graduation course soon. Dhyani said that a gold medal in his name will be awarded from this session to the students who have secured the highest marks at the graduation level in the university. On the other hand, teachers and staff members planted saplings at Swami Ramteerth campus and paid homage to Suman.
