Martyred Naik Virendra cremated with military honours

The mortal remains of the 15th Garhwal Rifle soldier Naik Virendra Singh were creamated on the banks of the river Pindar in Narayanbagar in Chamoli district with full military honours. Notably, he was killed as terrorists attacked an army vehicle he was in in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir. Earlier, the mortal remains of the martyr were brought to Gauchar by a special army aircraft from where the funeral procession, led by the army, started. The mortal remains were taken to the ground of Narayanbagar Intercollege where tributes were paid by many, including family members, army, police and administration officers and political leaders. After the cremation, the Tharali MLA Bhupal Ram Tamta said that a road to be named after the martyr might be built that will lead up to Bamiyala village.
