With snowfall continuing since morning following a sudden change in weather, the high- altitude places, including Badrinath Dham, Valley of Flowers, Hemkund Sahib, Niti Valley and Auli, are now blanketed by thick layers of snow. The tourists staying in Auli said they were enjoying the snowy spell. This prominent winter tourism destination was under over one feet of snow.
As it has been raining in the plains, the people keep shivering under the severe cold with the mercury having plummeted by several notches in the past 24 hours. Those associated with agriculture, however, look happy as rain at this time is deemed favourable for crop growth.
