Massive vaccination drive held in U’khand

A massive vaccination drive was organised in Uttarakhand on the occasion of 71st birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday. In the drive a total of 1,72,641 people were administered vaccines in different parts of the state. The department had taken up a target to vaccinate two lakh people on the day and had set up 1944 vaccine centres in the state for the purpose. In Dehradun district a total of 23,474 vaccine doses were administered on Friday. The Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, union minister Prahlad Joshi, union minister of state Ajay Bhatt, Uttarakhand health minister Dhan Singh Rawat and others visited a vaccination centre in the Gandhi centenary hospital on the day.
Meanwhile the state health department reported 25 new cases of the novel Coronavirus (Covid-19) and 23 recoveries from the disease on Friday. No death from the disease was reported on the day in the state. The cumulative count of Covid-19 patients in the state is now at 3,43,355 while a total of 3,29,605 patients have recovered from the disease so far. In the state, 7389 people have lost their lives to Covid -19 till date. The recovery percentage from the disease is at 96 while the sample positivity rate on Friday was 0.15 per cent.
The state health department reported six new patients of Covid -19 from Pauri, five each from Dehradun and Uttarkashi, three from Haridwar, two from Almora and one each from Champawat, Nainital, Rudraprayag and Udham Singh Nagar on Friday. No patients were found in Bageshwar, Chamoli, Pithoragarh and Tehri on the day.
The state now has 282 active cases of Covid-19. Dehradun with 134 cases is at the top of the table of active cases while Pauri has 30 active cases. Tehri has no active cases of the disease now.
