Mauni Baba begins protest seeking entry of devotees in Badrinath

Some members of the religious fraternity are dissatisfied with the government for not starting the pilgrimage to Badrinath. One such mendicant, Mauni Baba began a protest fast unto death in Badrinath on Wednesday. He said that he will end his protest only after he is able to pay obeisance to god Badrinath.
It will be recalled that earlier Mauni Baba had undertaken a similar protest fast from May 23 demanding the opening of Badrinath shrine for devotees. The then chief minister Tirath Singh Rawat had on June 7 given him assurance after which the mendicant had ended his protest fast. However, even now the locals and members of the religious fraternity are not allowed to visit the Badrinath temple.
Objecting to this, Mauni Baba has once again started a protest fast at his Ashram in Badrinath. Meanwhile, the Badrish Sangharsh Samiti is also continuing its relay protest in support of the demand for starting the Char Dham Yatra.
