Maurya’s statement baseless, aimed at political gains: Shankaracharya Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati

Stressing that the statement on Badrinath made by Samajwadi Party leader Swami Prasad Maurya is devoid of facts, Jyotish Peeth Shankaracharya Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati said that the political should make any valid proof public to support his statement. He should not hurt the sentiments of crores of followers of Sanatan Dharma without research and information, said the Shankaracharya, while adding that Badrinath dates back to the Satyug era.
Saraswati was reacting to Maurya’s statement wherein the SP leader had stated that till the 8th century, the place where Badrinath is now was a Buddhist shrine. “There are Char Dham in the four corners of the nation which have been the centres of the faith and devotion of the followers of Sanatan Dharma. Badrinath Dham finds mention in all our religious scriptures and Puran, which is known to all,” said the Shankaracharya.
He suggested that the SP leader should make public whatever valid proof or facts he has to substantiate his statement. Maurya is neither a historian nor an expert on religious scriptures. He is hurting the sentiments of the Sanatan Dharma followers simply to gain political benefit, added Saraswati.
