Maximise sampling in villages & ensure availability of medicines: CM

Continuing his tour of the districts, chief minister Tirath Singh Rawat visited Champawat on Monday. Reaching the district, the CM and MP Ajay Tamta donned PPE kits and met the patients undergoing treatment in the Covid ward and ICU at the district hospital. Checking the arrangements made for the patients, Rawat appreciated the work being done by the medical staff and administration. Visiting the Covid control room, the CM had telephonic interaction with Covid patients in home isolation. He also visited the disaster control room and checked the work being undertaken there.

Later, Rawat held a meeting with officials to review the works being undertaken to tackle Covid, preprations being made for the monsoon season and status of development works in the district. Stressing on the need for maximising sampling, he also directed officials to raise public awareness in rural areas. Medical teams should be sent for conducting tests in the villages, he said. Just like each home is visited to collect data during census, every home should be visited in the villages to test the family members. He said that in addition to checking Covid, efforts should also be undertaken for prevention of water borne diseases during the monsoon season. All the MLAs and other public representatives should also visit the villages to ascertain the availability of Covid medicines. He also directed the police to strictly enforce the Covid curfew to check the spread of the virus.

Seeking information about the preparations made for the coming monsoon season, the CM said that all departments should be prepared and remain alert to deal with any type of disaster so that rescue and relief can be facilitated immediately on receiving information about any disaster event. Reviewing the development works, Rawat directed officials of the Peyjal Nigam, Public Works Department, Power department and various executing agencies to ensure that construction works are completed on time.

The minister in-charge of the district, Arvind Pandey, MP Ajay Tamta, Lohaghat MLA Puran Fartyal, Kumaon commissioner Arvind Singh Hyanki and district magistrate Vineet Tomar among others were also present in the meeting.
