The Dehradun mayor Sunil Uniyal ‘Gama’ has extended the period of 20 per cent rebate on property tax once again. The Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) has collected the property tax revenue of over Rs 20 crore in this financial year. Considering hurdles like the second Covid wave and Covid curfew this year, the officials consider it a good revenue collection. According to them, the collection through residential and non-residential taxpayers is comparatively more than the previous years during the same time period.
They said that the tax collection through digital mode also increased this year. Out of about 1.23 lakh registered buildings, over 37,000 taxpayers have already deposited the tax to the corporation as per the officials. The mayor said that setting up tax camps has immensely helped the locals to easily deposit the tax nearby their houses besides increasing the tax collection. He said that the period of 20 per cent rebate is being extended by one month and appealed to the locals to deposit the tax before December 30 to get the benefit.
