Dehradun mayor Saurabh Thapliyal and municipal commissioner Namami Bansal visited the Culture Museum located near Clock Tower at the MDDA Complex in Dehradun on Wednesday. During the inspection, he identified several shortcomings.
Thapliyal said that he observed that the museum is not being properly maintained. He noted that only one staff member is deployed at the site and pointed out the need for better security for the equipment kept there.
The mayor said that the museum houses items related to Pahadi culture and various traditional tools. He stated that it is situated in the centre of the city and should be in better condition so that more people from the city can visit it.
He emphasised the need for the authorities to improve the situation. He said that he will write to the Culture department and Mussoorie Dehradun Development Authority (MDDA) regarding the issues and ask them to address them on priority basis.
