The Dehradun mayor Sunil Uniyal ‘Gama’ on Friday inspected the works carried out by the sanitation section for the prevention of dengue in Dehradun. He reached the Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) at 6:30 AM and monitored the teams deployed to carry out work of fogging and spraying larvicide in vulnerable areas. He also went to seven wards- Govindgarh, Yamuna Colony, Bhagat Singh Colony, MDDA Colony, Dalanwala, Araghar and Balbir Road to inspect the team’s work for dengue prevention. He also interacted with local people during his inspection and took feedback about the work of MCD being done in their respective areas.
The corporation on Friday conducted a massive fogging campaign in 32 wards using five big vehicles and 100 small machines. Besides this, eight tractors with mounted spray machines were used to spray larvicide in drains and vulnerable places which can be breeding grounds for mosquitoes in 10 wards that include Saraswati Vihar, Tilak Road, Rispana, Yamuna Colony and Indrapuram. The corporation’s two teams under the supervision of 12 sector officers also conducted a dengue larva checking campaign and destroyed dengue larvae from a total of 26 places besides collecting a challan of Rs 8,600.
The municipal commissioner Manuj Goyal also inspected some areas on Friday to monitor the work under the ongoing campaign. He also appealed to locals to keep the premises of their house, office or any establishment clean to prevent it from becoming a breeding place for mosquitoes. In case they observe stagnant water or a place where dengue larvae are found, they must inform MCD about it. He also directed the sanitation teams to take prompt action against such complaints. All officers must do their best in the anti-dengue campaign and no negligence will be tolerated from any level, he added.
