Garbage and silt blocked a drain near Sun Park Inn Hotel in Indirapuram on Thursday, causing waterlogging on the road and creating problems for residents and commuters. Dehradun mayor Saurabh Thapliyal directed the officials of the Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) to send its TMS20 drain cleaning machine and a mechanical excavator to the site to resolve the issue. At the site, councillor Babita Gupta informed him that the drain built by the Public Works Department (PWD) was blocked which had caused waterlogging in the area. Thapliyal directed PWD officials to reach the location, work with the MCD team and solve the problem at the earliest so that residents do not face any further inconvenience.
The mayor said that the MCD is working to deal with waterlogging issues across the city during the monsoon. He said that the corporation is coordinating with the departments concerned to ensure quick action and timely relief for citizens and asked officials to respond promptly to complaints of blocked drains and waterlogging.
