The Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) has collected revenue of Rs 13 lakh through its four property tax collection camps this month in which about 1000 property taxpayers have deposited the tax. In an attempt to maximise the recovery of property tax, the corporation has planned to organise eight camps in eight different locations of the city from September 1 to 15 on the orders of mayor Sunil Uniyal ‘Gama’.
The municipal tax superintendent Dharmesh Painuly said that the corporation collected Rs 1,10,000 through its fourth camp this month on Monday in the Dobhalwala area. The total collection through all the four camps is about Rs 12 lakh, said Painuly. He also informed that the corporation has collected total revenue of over Rs four crore in this financial year and this collection will possibly increase by the end of this month. He stated that September 30 will be the last date of the period of 20 per cent rebate and that the corporation is not planning to extend it further this year.
The tax superintendent also added that after September 15, the tax section will continue to organise camps as per the requests of the public and the councillors.
