The Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) organised a puppet show on the second day to raise public awareness about air pollution and its control at Gandhi Park, as part of the Clean Air Day Week campaign. The programme was conducted under the direction of the Dehradun municipal commissioner Alok Kumar Pandey. “The puppet show uses a simple and entertaining format to educate citizens about the causes and harmful effects of air pollution. It particularly highlights the need to avoid burning garbage and other waste in the open, ensure proper waste disposal and segregation at source and avoid littering roads and public places,” Pandey said.
The organisers stressed that government efforts alone cannot control air pollution and that active participation from citizens is equally important. Residents were urged not to burn waste in the open and to discourage others from doing so.
The programme also promoted the message of “Clean Doon-Healthy Doon” and collective responsibility towards maintaining clean air.
Notably, MCD is conducting various information, education and communication (IEC) and public awareness activities throughout the Clean Air Day Week to encourage greater public participation in controlling air pollution.
