Following the directions of Dehradun district magistrate Sonika, the Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) has recently started a drive to remove the encroachments from government lands. A joint team of district administration and municipal officials demolished encroachments in Rajpur and Malsi area on Wednesday.
The officials said that two men had made embankments on the drain on the government’s land in a Rajpur’s village despite the fact that MCD had allegedly registered an FIR against them in the police. The officials said that legal action will be taken against the accused. Besides this, the team also demolished the pavement constructed by Hotel Taj on the corporation’s property. The team installed the board on these lands declaring them to be the property of MCD. The officials said that the municipal commissioner Gaurav Kumar has directed the officials concerned to identify all such encroachments and take appropriate action against them.
Besides this, DM also held an on-site inspection of encroachment on MCD’s land in Mussoorie Diversion and Tarla Nagal area on Wednesday. She instructed MCD officials and Tehsildar to free the illegally encroached land soon and take action against the culprits accordingly. She also directed them to take cognisance of the complaints of encroachment on government land and act against them. She again directed MCD officials to identify all the government land under their area and submit its report soon.
