MCD extends 20 % rebate period to March 31

When only nine days are left for this financial year to end, the Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) has extended the period of 20 per cent rebate on property tax once again till March 31. According to the municipal commissioner Vinay Shankar Pandey, the corporation extended the rebate to encourage more and more people to deposit the property tax by the end of this month as MCD will start imposing penalty from the month of April. The officials informed that the corporation had set the target of collecting property tax of Rs 50 crore but since the collection was affected due to the Covid-19 pandemic this financial year, the MCD has collected a little over Rs 29 crore so far. They further informed that the MCD has sent bills and notices to over 100 government, non-governmental and aided organisations and the corporation will possibly collect about Rs 35 crore to Rs 40 crore by March 31.

Moreover, the commissioner informed that MCD will prepare the list of all the registered buildings with pending property tax in April and subsequently send them notices to deposit the tax with 15 per cent penalty charges.
