MCD issues notice to political parties for hoardings, posters
Stating that the unsystematic public display of political hoardings, posters and banners make the city unsightly, the Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) has sent notices to the Mahanagar heads of six political parties to remove such displays immediately.
Municipal commissioner Vinay Shankar Pandey disclosed that the corporation is taking all the possible measures to improve sanitation facilities in the city but several political parties have put up posters and hoardings on various public properties like trees, signboards, electric poles and parks that spoil the beauty of Dehradun city. Since such disorganised display can adversely affect the ranking of the city in Swachh Survekshan 2021, the commissioner has instructed the parties to remove such displays immediately. MCD has also instructed the political parties to seek the permission of the corporation before pasting or installing any posters or hoardings in public places and subsequently remove such displays within 12 hours after the events are finished.
Moreover, he has also directed the officials concerned to take action against the parties if they fail to remove public displays under the Prevention of Defacement of Public Property Act, 2003. The six political parties which got the notices from MCD are Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Indian National Congress (INC), Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Samajwadi Party, Uttarakhand Kranti Dal (UKD) and Bahujan Samajwadi Party (BSP).
