MCD launches Plastic Lao Mask Pao campaign

Attempting to reduce the spread of plastic waste on the roads and spreading awareness about Covid-19 among locals at the same time, the Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) launched Plastic Lao Mask Pao campaign on Tuesday.

The corporation has commenced this campaign in association with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and HDFC bank. For this campaign, the corporation will set kiosks in various places of the city like Gandhi Park, MCD compound and Pacific Mall besides some colonies for the next fifteen days where the locals can bring plastic waste and can get face masks in return. According to the municipal commissioner Vinay Shankar Pandey, this campaign will help in the reduction of plastic waste in the city while helping to enhance protection from Covid-19. This will also help those people who cannot afford masks as now they can easily get them through this campaign, stated officials.

Meanwhile, Pandey also appealed to locals to segregate garbage before dumping it through door to door collection or in garbage bins as the unsegregated garbage causes various hygienic and environmental issues in the city.
