The Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) imposed penalties and issued notices to commercial bodies situated on Mussoorie Diversion-Rajpur area for littering in the nearby area. The chief municipal health officer Dr Avinash Khanna along with sanitation inspector Manish Dariyal and other team members of the health section conducted an inspection in the area under the sanitation campaign of the corporation. Since March is a crucial month for Swachch Survekshan 2022 (SS22) as a team deployed by the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) is scheduled to conduct the on-field assessment, the officials are taking all possible measures to maintain cleanliness in the city. In Mussoorie Diversion-Rajpur area on Monday, the sanitation team imposed penalties and issued notices to six shops and fast-food eateries and one restaurant for littering in the nearby public places. Khanna said that some commercial bodies dump their garbage in public places rather than disposing of it properly which causes garbage accumulation on roadside areas. The team caught people from these premises littering in public places on Monday and fines were imposed on them accordingly. “We have also issued notices to these establishments. If they are found to be dumping the garbage in the open again, action will be taken against them under the relevant acts,” said Khanna.
