The Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) in association with Vardaan Sanstha planted 3,000 saplings on the occasion of Harela. Addressing the plantation programme on the MCD’s land at Danda Lakhond, the Dehradun municipal commissioner Gaurav Kumar said that plants and trees are required to keep the environment clean like food is must to give a human body proper nutrition. He said that trees and plants absorb the impurities of the environment and give us pure air which is the essence of life on earth. Everyone should plant as many trees as possible while ensuring their protection till they grow into a healthy tree. The general secretary of Vardaan Sanstha Anil Chandola also informed the organisation has commenced a plantation campaign under which they will plant saplings at 30 different places in Dehradun for 30 days. They will mostly plant saplings and plants of fruits and will ensure they are protected well till they grow into a healthy tree, he added.
