The Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) on Monday laid final touches to preparations in the city for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Tuesday visit.

Dehradun mayor Saurabh Thapliyal stated that he carried out inspections at several key locations in Dehradun to review the status of civic preparations. The inspection focused on evaluating infrastructure readiness and identifying gaps that needed immediate attention before the PM’s arrival.

During the visit, the mayor directed the officials to maintain high standards of sanitation across all designated areas. Special emphasis was laid on effective waste management, with instructions to deploy adequate manpower and resources to keep public spaces clean and presentable.

Regarding traffic management, officials were asked to coordinate with relevant departments to ensure smooth vehicular movement and prevent congestion, particularly along routes likely to be used during the visit. Measures are being planned to streamline traffic flow and minimise inconvenience to residents, Thapliyal added.

In addition, the mayor stressed the importance of robust security arrangements. Civic authorities have been instructed to work in close coordination with police and other agencies to ensure comprehensive safety measures are in place.

Deputy municipal commissioner Tanvir Marwah said that along with beautification, proper sanitation arrangements are being ensured. Additional personnel have also been deployed so that cleanliness is maintained in the area. Teams will be deployed from late night, he added.

According to the official programme, the PM will arrive in Dehradun in the morning and at around 11:40 AM, he will offer prayers at Dat Kali Mandir at the entrance of Dehradun. Following the temple visit, at approximately 12:30 PM, Modi will inaugurate the Delhi-Dehradun Economic Corridor.
