Beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana- Urban are being presented letters from chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, wishing them on becoming home owners. The PMAY was launched in 2015 with the aim of providing homes for all citizens. The Municipal Corporation of Dehradun has started the work of presenting the letters by the chief minister to beneficiaries of the PMAY-U, individual home construction component.
Under the scheme, the beneficiaries received Rs two lakh assistance each for construction of home. The entire amount of the grant was transferred to their bank accounts in separate installments. Adding their own contribution to the assistance amount, the beneficiaries are constructing their own homes as per their requirement. According to officials, in addition to the homes, the beneficiaries are being linked with other schemes for social security and basic facilities like electricity, water, toilet, sanitation and other aspects.
