MCD to continue organising tax camps

After the successful organisation of property tax camps in September, the Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) will continue conducting camps the next month too.
The tax superintendent (TS) Dharmesh Painuly informed that the corporation has collected property tax of Rs 10 crore out of which, over Rs one crore was generated through the camps this month. He stated that the MCD has sent about 5,000 notices to commercial taxpayers and recently, the corporation also received Rs one crore from ONGC and Rs 91 lakh from Secretariat.
Meanwhile, the mayor Sunil Uniyal ‘Gama’ also informed that the MCD used to increase the property tax charges by 20 per cent every year but as per the recent orders of the Central Government, the corporation can no more increase charges over five per cent
