MCD to impose penalty on illegal public displays of banners in Dehradun

Asserting that the recently sent notices to the political parties regarding the unsystematic public display of banners and posters in public properties was not just a step taken by MCD to get bonus points in the upcoming inspection of Swachh Survekshan 2021, the municipal commissioner Vinay Shankar Pandey said that the corporation will regularly monitor all such illegal public displays throughout the year. He said the corporation is taking all the measures to improve sanitation conditions in the city but the defacement is one of the major issues to tackle.

MCD has started a campaign to remove all such public displays from major public places and many posters and banners have been removed by the corporation. If anyone will put up new posters or banners in public or private properties anymore without the permission of the corporation, MCD will impose penalties besides taking strict action against culprits under the Prevention of Defacement of Public Property (PDPP) Act, 2003, informed Pandey. Moreover, the officials also asserted that though the corporation is working toward such issues, people should also need to develop a civic sense and keep their city clean.
