The Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) is planning to introduce mechanised sweeper machines for efficient road cleaning and solid waste management on major routes of the city. It will improve the quality of sanitation work and save considerable time too, said the municipal commissioner Manuj Goyal.
He said that there are certain main roads where the corporation gets complaints regarding inefficient sanitation facilities, often due to the unavailability of sanitation workers. Considering this, the MCD is planning to introduce mechanised sweeper machines. “These sweeper machines will help in road cleaning and solid waste management. These also collect dust and silt which will be quite helpful during heavy rainfall. It will also help in the management of the cleaning timetable,” said the commissioner.
He said that these machines do not just clean but also prevent air pollution that often occurs while sweeping on dusty roads. The corporation expects that the introduction of these machines will also contribute to preventing air pollution besides assisting the city to get a better ranking in Swachh Survekshan. Goyal said that MCD is currently preparing to ensure this plan can be executed as soon as possible in the city.
