PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE/Dehradun

The Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) will launch a special campaign christened “100 Days, One Mission – Reviving Our Rivers” from March 8 to promote cleanliness and environmental conservation in the city.

The campaign will begin at 9:30 AM with a programme near the Bindal and Rispana rivers. The initiative will be formally inaugurated by the mayor Saurabh Thapliyal and municipal commissioner Namami Bansal.

The corporation officials said that under the campaign, the civic body will undertake special cleaning and river rejuvenation activities for 100 days in different parts of the city. The focus will be on cleaning rivers and drains and improving the surrounding environment in order to restore local water bodies and maintain sanitation around them.

The municipal authorities said that the initiative also aims to spread public awareness about cleanliness and environmental protection. Through the campaign, the MCD plans to encourage citizens to participate in efforts to keep the city’s natural water sources clean.

They added that the sanitation workers and representatives of non-governmental organisations (NGOs) are expected to participate in the programme. Residents and volunteers will also be encouraged to take part in the activities planned during the campaign period.

The civic body said that the initiative is part of its broader efforts to promote environmental sustainability and improve urban cleanliness in Dehradun. The officials believe that sustained action and community participation are essential to protect the city’s rivers and maintain ecological balance.
