A new agency will start door-to-door garbage collection service in 47 of the 100 wards of the Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) from the first week of December. After handing over the operation of the solid waste management and recycling plant in Sheeshambada to a Bhopal-based agency from Ramky Enviro Engineers Limited (REEL), MCD will soon select a new company for door-to-door services in 47 wards.
These wards are presently being managed by REEL’s sister company Chennai MSW Private Limited and would be soon relieved of their duties next month too. The chief municipal health officer Dr. Avinash Khanna said that the tender floated by MCD to select a new agency for door-to-door service will be opened on November 30. He said that it is expected to take a few days to complete the required subsequent proceedings and the new agency will take over door-to-door service. The corporation is taking actions to improve the sanitation condition of the city and since door-to-door service is an important part of it, MCD would choose an efficient agency on November 30, added Khanna.
