MCD to provide online registration facility for dog licenses after March
In view of record breaking dog license registrations in the Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) premises within the last few months, the officials have decided to provide the online license registration facilities to locals after March. In the last financial year, the corporation issued over 500 dogs licenses but this financial year, about 3000 dog licenses have been registered in the corporation. On average, about 70 people arrive in the MCD premises for license registration but as per the officials, this number sometimes go up to 100 to 150 too. According to the senior veterinary officer, Dr DC Tiwari, the corporation is planning to provide the facility of online dog license registration to make the process of registration easier, especially for senior citizens. The dog owners would be able to upload required documents and make online payments and they would be able to get their license without visiting the corporation, stated Tiwari. The officials informed that about 3,000 dog licenses have been issued and the corporation has collected around Rs seven lakh this financial year so far.
Meanwhile, the officials also informed that MCD will soon commence the inspection of dog license registration in the city and will impose penalties accordingly on the dog owners.
