Considering the increase in the property tax collection through the camps in the past two months, the Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) has announced setting up 11 new camps this month.
On the instructions of the mayor Sunil Uniyal ‘Gama’, the tax section of the corporation started setting up regular camps from September and collected the tax of about Rs one crore within one month from the camps. The officials informed that the corporation has collected about Rs two crores only through the camps as they set them in the vicinity of the locals in their respective wards.
The tax collection process is also doing well this time than the previous years as the MCD has collected the tax of about Rs 18 crore which usually remained below Rs 10 crore as most of the locals preferred to deposit tax in the last three months of the financial year, said the tax superintendent Dharmesh Painuly. He said that in order to encourage people to deposit tax and make the tax submission process accessible for senior citizens and differently-abled, the MCD will set up 11 camps from November 11 to November 23. He informed, “These camps will be organised in different locations of the city.
We will set two camps near Nehru Road in Dalanwala and Kaulagarh on November 11 and two camps at the Councillor office in Racecourse and Prempur in Kaulagarh on November 12. One camp will be set up again in Racecourse the next day. Two camps will be set at Advait Ashram near Ansari Road and in Deeplok Colony on November 15. On November 18, 20 and 23, the nearby locals can pay taxes at camps in Raja Road, Raipur Road, Pragati Vihar and the councillor’s office in Turner Road.”
