The Dehradun mayor Sunil Uniyal ‘Gama’ said that efforts and initiatives of the Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) this year will certainly help the city to get a rank among the top 50 cleanest cities of the country in the eighth edition of Swachh Survekshan. He said this during his cleanliness drive ‘Swachh Doon Sundar Doon’ in the Dharampur ward on Sunday. He was joined by the Dharampur MLA Vinod Chamoli and ward councillor Amit Bhandari along with the sanitation team. He swept roads and collected garbage from roads. He also heard complaints from locals regarding sanitation and encroachment issues and directed the officials concerned through the phone to take action immediately. He said that improving the sanitation conditions of the city is one of his major goals and he would continue to work on it till Dehradun becomes the cleanest city in the country.
He stated that all citizens should contribute to keeping their city clean and get into the top cleanest cities of the country in Swachchh Survekshan 2023. ‘Gama’ started this cleanliness drive on October 1, 2022 under which he along with some sanitation workers and locals have been cleaning garbage from various streets, cleaning drains and disposing of roadside accumulated garbage into dustbins. He said that several locals and officials have appreciated him for this drive and told him that they were inspired by this initiative.
