MCH asks meat shop owners to shift shops

Tuesday, 16 January 2024 | PNS | DEHRADUN

The Haridwar municipal commissioner Varun Chaudhary held a meeting with the meat shop owners on Monday to discuss the shifting of shops to the new shops in Sarai village  area of the city. The meeting was held to make the shopkeepers aware that shops are being built under the Municipal Corporation of Haridwar (MCH) in the Sarai village.

The officials said that the corporation wants the meat shop owners to shift their shops to the village area rather than operating their shops in the city area which reportedly causes nuisance to many. Many have complained about sanitation and other associated irregularities regarding the operation of meat shops, especially in the city area during religious proceedings and ceremonies. Considering this, the MCH conducted a meeting with all meat shop owners to discuss the matter.

The commissioner and other municipal officials present in the meeting also made the shopkeepers aware of the facilities which will be provided to them if they shift their shops to Sarai. Chaudhary assured the shopkeepers that they will not have to face any difficulty during the shifting process. He also directed the officials to form a monitoring committee to ensure shopkeepers shift to new shops without any issues. The officials informed that the committee will include members of the sanitation section who will work under the supervision of the Haridwar municipal commissioner.

They said that the committee will ensure that all work is being done as per the rules without causing any problems for shopkeepers. However, many shopkeepers appeared to be apprehensive about the plan as shifting shops to a new place can affect their business. The MCH officials said that those shopkeepers who have any apprehensions regarding the plan to shift shops can approach the committee.
