The Municipal Corporation of Haridwar (MCH) has deployed 150 workers to undertake sanitation work in the city at night. Haridwar municipal commissioner Dayanand Saraswati briefed the employees in the town hall regarding the sanitation efforts of the corporation. With the increase in the crowd, the corporation will collect the garbage in three shifts. The garbage collection vehicles will arrive at night when the crowd decreases and lift the garbage from market areas. Nala gang members and other sanitation workers along with 40 garbage collection vehicles have also been deployed by the MCH.
Saraswati informed that all the employees have been ordered to ensure proper sanitation. Two sanitation inspectors have also been posted on night duty. Garbage will be collected only at night, he said. Considering the heavy rush of pilgrims and tourists due to the ongoing Char Dham Yatra and periodic religious occasions, the MCH is laying more stress on ensuring the desired level of cleanliness in the city. Efforts are also underway to further improve the door to door garbage collection. The MCH has also deployed sanitation workers at important locations including Har Ki Paidi, Sabzi Mandi, Moti Bazaar and other places in the city.
