MCH starts special sanitation campaign

The Municipal Corporation of Haridwar (MCH) has stepped up sanitation works in the city for the ‘Swacchata Hi Sewa’ campaign which will formally be undertaken from September 17 to October 2. On the directions of municipal commissioner Nandan Kumar, the senior municipal health officer led a special sanitation campaign in the city on Thursday.

The municipal officials and sanitation inspectors checked various prominent locations and directed efforts to clean spots found to be dirty. The campaign was conducted on various Ganga Ghats, Rodi Belwala, Har Ki Paidi, Laljiwala, Bhopatwala, Kankhal-Bairagi Camp, Jwalapur, Mayapur and other areas. The MCH has planned to undertake the special sanitation drive till October 2.

The sanitation in the municipal wards will be regularly monitored in addition to cleaning of prominent locations, officials said. The municipal officials have appealed to both locals and visiting pilgrims to cooperate in the sanitation campaign.

The people  have been requested to dump garbage only in designated spots in order to keep the city clean.
