The Municipal Corporation of Haridwar (MCH) has received over 200 complaints since the establishment of a control room on May 24. The control room, established on the MCH premises, was introduced to handle grievances related to cleanliness and other civic issues.

According to MCH sanitation inspector Shrikant Chaudhary, the control room was primarily set up to address sanitation concerns, offering residents a direct line of communication with the corporation. However, locals have been calling with a wide range of issues, from littering on public roads to questions about property taxes. These matters are being directed to the relevant authorities for prompt resolution. Chaudhary said that the control room operates round the clock, with employees and officials working in three shifts per day to ensure continuous service. Over the past three months, the control room has registered complaints about irregular garbage collection, blocked drains, street lights that need repair and stray animals. Additionally, complaints have been coming in through WhatsApp, often accompanied by photos detailing the issues, he said. “In June, we received 37 complaints, followed by 55 in July and 50 in August. So far, a few complaints have been lodged in September, with faulty street lights being a frequent concern,” Chaudhary said. He added that the corporation is making efforts to resolve these issues quickly and that the complainants are notified once their problem is addressed. The initiative also aims to assist pilgrims and tourists in reporting sanitation issues with ease.
